Wall of Fame

The tradition of honoring the greatest players in Philadelphia baseball history began in 1978 at Veterans Stadium.

The Philadelphia Baseball Hall of Fame was on display in the 200-level concourse that year. Initially Alumni of both the Phillies and Philadelphia Athletics were included. First plaques featured Robin Roberts and Connie Mack.

With the opening of Citizens Bank Park, former Phillies legends were now featured in the team’s Wall of Fame with Toyota becoming the sponsor.

Twenty-five A’s players were included in the Philadelphia Baseball Hall of Fame throughout the years. Their names were added to the Connie Mack statue located on the west side of Citizens Bank Park. The statue which stood across the street from Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium was refurbished and relocated by the Phillies at Veterans Stadium in 1971. It moved again with the opening of the new ballpark in 2004.

Six members of the 1950 Whiz Kid National League champions were among the early inductees. Ten years after the establishment of the Hall of Fame, the 1980 World Champions began to be honored.

Thirteen legends from that year are now part of the Wall of Fame with the 2022 additions of Bake McBride and Ron Reed.

The next wave will come from the franchise’s second World Championship club. Three are already on the wall, Charlie Manuel (2014), Pat Burrell (2016) and GM Pat Gillick (2018).
